Denied Slave Wills and Destitute Overseers: Centuries Old Land Theft in Trinidad and Tobago

Cant believe what I am hearing

Overseers stole the land left of and by absent, bailed and evacuated plantation owners who decreed, willed and signed the land over to the abolitioned (freed) slaves as they left these shores as plantations were no longer profitable to operate at the end of slavery.

I have said before and amazing that more information is emerging to prove the truth. Africans were robbed of land centuries ago. Africans are now landless because they cannot afford to buy back what was stolen and to correct their disenfranchisement. And the train has left the station. You cant reset a chess set board game. And too many centuries of causative circular and cumulative acts entrenched lines and identities drawn in ley lines.

Overseers here were the impoverished, disenfranchised of Europe, and could also be seen to be free criminals who were assigned to the periphery to work the land and ownerships of those they transgressed, a sort of hangover from the earlier fiefdoms of Europe. They found their reinvention in the absence and abandoned lands and estates at the abolition of slavery.  It is from that, the left overs that they created their industries, amassed the stolen estates and money from the businesses they continued and started. But they were granted the resources from that theft to get started. Lets be clear No one came here with money. None who are still here today,. That is. All were scrunting and now we learn, plenty were and are criminals.

And turns out there was a law written to stop the lands being turned over to abolitioned slaves in Tobago. One wonders who wrote that law, who was present to write that law; and how legal was that law if plantation owners wrote wills transferring the lands to said free slaves, men and women. But you can write a will in any hall of representatives to overturn any arrangement but it ought to be done with the change in constitution, but doubt if you will this was and is the wild west, and perhaps here, I finally discover how asinine a profession could be as the legal to write laws and never go back to research history and precedent. Perhaps that was a leftback, leave over of the colonialists who knew they were always scheming and writing deals to restrict the freedoms and abilities of previous. So is that why, laws are written in dispatch and patch; with great loopholes to drive a moon through and breaks in between to allow the establishment of illegality as a nation>

Dr. Orville Scott had all that material. He had a copy of such a will from a plantation owner willing land to the slaves he owned. He showed and spoke that NONE Of the people owning lands in Tobago for all these decades and hundreds of years, have no paper, or legal document to  proof of the land. He read off what must have been twenty estates in Tobago with no prrof of land ownership. And he spoke of trying to get help from Rowley, OLondon and THA. But it is clear to me why there would be no help forthcoming. That is upsetting one big applecart. People would be lost to all the pomp, and ownership./ they would become destitute. He also showed a Tobago document decreeing the STOP of all adherence to wills transferring land to the rightful owners of the aboilitioned slave. Imagine that! IF Tobago wrote a law preventing the ownership, transfer and holding of legally decreed lands by abolitioned slaves, what did Trinidad do? This is how we know we have a system and country of Legal Illegality> See why and how some side with the petty bandits. Is the whirlwind sown that chickens roosting and still to me what petty they do – do not match the ugly injustice meted out to them in history and reinforced by contempt> Everything is turned upside down and inside out. The Criminals are not the ones on the road snatching,. They are the lawyers and legal framework that institutionalize debauched thievery, and national disenfranchisement.

I have always said, intuitively seeing  that all are here, are thieves; never imagining the extent to that truth. The ones who landed here and came, as merchants as overseers,  and in transitions, perhaps the sailors, they are no more than the slaves and indentured who worked the land, but the latter not organized, mindful, minded or aware of what was happening, owing to perhaps, illiteracy, the lack of knowing how the land and laws worked, not even aware of the laws, and certainly, having spent their lives and heritage in bondage, would not  have the courage or the esteem in general terms to even envision owning anything. One cannot so easily change stripes. And like the slaves so the lesser European thieves. They came here, working and toiling for their lesser acts, and so they carried on.
All were here working, none were bested or better than any

Fascinating, I am stumped. And stumped to see how ingrained ignorance, and the extent to which the system cordons and blinders what information we are to know and understand. Paul the host was totally stumped as to how legal papers would not be adhered to by courts, lawyers and the system like the THA> Is it that lost to a thinking mind that those are now the people who would be bereft of their holdings, their collateral, wealth and land if the rightful owners of what they live off of were corrected the injustice? Is it that lost to a thinking mind that those rolls are the police and assurance of the establishment, and here we see the establishment, how criminal? Is it not clear that we create lives and living that are themselves the antithesis to human functioning? Not for fairness and justice but to might and power and how to protect that in perpetuity> That is law and the legal profession: To protect the haves and the rich from the have nots and the poor. This Land in Tobago situation is a classic example.
IS it not clear that if the THA no longer held that land they would be no different than the poor and disenfranchised of this two island country? Not even oil to cover a lie or lack of industry> There are men and women seemingly totally ignorant of the treachery of people, the injustices suffered of lessors, and the dynamic amidst those all poor vying for survival.

It is fascinating; I have no words, because now I wonder if it is the case that Africans were run off the land; or if they willingly stopped working the land? And had they continued on the land, would they have been rich beyond belief and recognition, in this day and age, when food and the land on which to grow it, even on water are becoming the only premium.

I think of all the light people of European descendants I see around now, talking and picturing estates. Appalled. We are watching thieves then: Surmised before; proven now. Bold and emboldened. Do they know? Some do. Some know. Many if all did at one time. But as time went on, they took their thievery for entitlement and privilege. Never to know what a lie/ I have no words/ The dance of it all.

I know of the injustices of the world. I am stumped literally and almost paralyzed to learn of its institution here at home. But why this reaction>? I would not be if I did not have people, black folk who look like me, talking shit and defending the ugly their white ancestry did when they raped and took advantage of the black, indian and mulatto women who they took as any tool on the land, peer, estate or plantation> Talking shit of ‘[family]’ what family? You were as an ox on the land, to produce. You were born of a taking in the shed or barn or under the stars, or the kitchen floor, or the overseer’s bed, without say your mother had or respect.

Funny too, because I think of the plantation owners who left, because of their absence, they  were free to leave inheritance to their slave children, as they would be absent any embarrassment or consequences of their breeding/ no one to call for entitlement; but the overseers who remained, they are the ones who lied and denied their seed and children of black women/and thus this rampant colorism as a means to deny the same nose, eyes and lips between children of one father but on/some darker for the slave mother…the only difference and ability to deny paternity is the color eh. And we have bought that lock stock and barrel

Our ignorance robbed us then> Our ignorance is robbing us now. There is a reason friends I always said I would squat. And it was because one, I knew anything I may want or need now has already been paid for, a few times over, if not more; and two, I was not going to pay for anything that by blood and right belongs to me or at least to those coming after. I take the teaching of the nations, that we own nothing while living here. To be adjusted to madness does not make you sane, just mad

I wonder if and what thieves are in my heritage history? I wonder what crimes and European scowl criminals are the ancestries of my genetic makeup? I am grateful for my melanin that prevented me from claiming any light to hidden darkness/ People like Mugabe , Samora Machel, Chavez, Mobutu and Castro had their reasons many decades ago, didn’t they? They made it their business to know the ugly these Europeans do and the ugly the afro Saxons coming behind them as neocolonialist to mind what was left, mimic and monkey> Fire Bun Dem for true

Where the justice?/ in what timing/ what world? What means/ WOW> Blows my Mind
When and what you learn, demarcates new lines of living; could be, friends and associations. That is if without dissonance.

And to show you how things do not change through time, Recall how the Americans came and claimed African lands for their base in Chaguaramas. Recall how those descendants were still calling for justice, correction and reappropriation of their lands when the PNM government was getting ready to build development there. It is the same story in replay. you all should make sure and get the clip of the interview.

Now... Dr Orville Scott, Member of the Tobago Land Ownership Association, reveals a controversy brewing in land ownership issues in Tobago...

The lands in contention are not even being developed into real estate or for agriculture. They are lying fallow and undeveloped in many instances. This is hurting the economy of Tobago.
– Dr Orville Scott, Tobago Land Ownership Association
Dr Orville Scott: “We have received no help from Opposition Leader Dr Keith Rowley and THA Chief Secretary Orville London, both of whom are Tobagonians. In fact they have not been very supportive of our cause. The Tobago Development Minister, Vernella Alleyne-Toppin has made it her mission to see the lands returned to the rightful owners.”

Then today, I discover this, more incrimination ...in the land of paradise>>

  1. The term Child Labor is used for employment of children below a certain age, which is considered illegal by law and custom. It is seen that children are found working more in the informal sectors compared to factories and commercial registered organizations. In many developed countries, it is considered inappropriate or exploitative if a child below a certain age works. Child labor is still common in some parts of the world.

Documentary - "The Dark Side of Chocolate" explores the actual fact behind the sweetness of the chocolate. We eat chocolates almost everyday but we never realize that what is the actual face of these delicious chocolates. We never bother to think that behind this delicious taste of cocoa there is another taste altogether: the taste of child abusers and child slavery. So next time think once before eating chocolate.
