"Listen, Wyclef is a music dude. Wyclef knows about music. Myself, I'm not going to vote for him. And believe me, I am a big Wyclef fan. You know what? Everyone who gets elected, they do the same thing. They're lying to the people, taking their money. They say they're going to do good when they're really not.
"The only reason poor people want to vote for him is because Wyclef doesn't have an education either. You go up to the rich spots, Kenscoff, Fermate, Pelerin ... you're not going to find anybody down for that. Rich people travel and have money, they know better.
"If people downtown understood the presidential system, what's really involved, they wouldn't vote Wyclef either."
Lamartine Chardavoie, 66
"But then again, if you know politics well enough to get elected, then maybe you know politics well enough to be president."
{Interesting. in this day and age, i dont think there is any longer "know politics" now it is energy, timing, popularity, celebrity; a host of factors beyond issues and interests"; people rarely vote their interests, especially in these caribbean developing, still embryonic islands (the youth will vote their hip hop)}

"@Kambale u are right Hiait has President that was kidnapped by the imperialist.
Haiti is under military occupation and Wyclef should stick to music!"

Fugees member, Pras Michel, issued a statement endorsing one of Jean’s
competitors, another musician named Michel “Sweet Micky” Martelly, “the
most competent candidate for the job.” Besides being Jean’s former band

why was this man's music so prophetic..."gone till November"? and "If I was Prezident"...?

Champ Ga Is it really important who Pras endorses in the Hatian election? I am really wondering what difference it makes in the grand scheme of things. Or do you think it's the media as usual making a story out of nothing?
My Response:
definitely not making a story out of nothing Ga.
there is a wealth of buried dynamics girding Clef's positions, presidency and path to this juncture, that i believe is worthy of interrogation.
I quoted that particular paragraph because earlier this week I referenced Lauren Hill's view of Wyclef, long before and apart of any presidency...there is a long leading leash of comments, views, perceptions and experiences of him as person, man and character that bears
if you have the time, google it.
try to surmise his interest and alliances, and ask yourself is it good for Haiti. Very Right Wing, Conservative, Corporate, Anti_democracy, Opportunists threads to determine whether real or unreal.
one person said "tell the truth, someone trying to buy land when it is cheap.
His association with Clinton who reportedly wants to make Haiti a tourist destination and cheap labor market for US industries.
I see this, personally, as a poise before disaster with the masses of poor people of Haiti being kicked once again. what is peculiar is that a kind of Haitian elite maybe sidelined -the traditional color coded; but a new and different modern elite will rise up...the English speakers, who will come in, droves, and reconstitute a whole other level of exploitation.
its deep.
i am on the outside looking in though, and really just collecitng thought.
this is my leaning at this time
funny thing is, I think he is going to be successful
another peculiar piece, Clef supposedly encouraged his uncle to run...what is that about...hedging for a family plan? no matter who wins, they both collectivize their followers.
deep stuff...is that democracy?
i will let somebody else tell me?
how is that democracy when the presidential candidate does not even speak the language of the people, the masses and greater populace of the people? Deep stuff that
and i just posted "human destruction is lethal for its buried subtleties"
ah gone
thanks for making me assess my thoughts

Jamela Khan One Haitian friend described it as a tragicomedy...steups...
Maven Huggins it will be tragic if the signs on seashore are true: corporate interest, selling land on the low tide, and now this right wing stuff.
i never wanted to write it, but all along what i was waiting for was to understand who he was in relation t...o the Haitian elite and landscape...that is emerging...he is not of the masses/. then on top of that there is an issue of him speaking neither French or Krayol well
interesting. there needs to be a facebook page on this journey and process.
