there is a whole body of work , from thinkers and grand visionaries, whose time, place, use and application never came to be. i think of fanon and his cohorts. I can get real basic and local and refer to the works of lloyd best. all these so called brains in this small speck of a place and who has taken his mantle and baton and built on his theories and thoughts to map and explain this place, or to build an economic nation?
i give pause too...think about people like arundhati roy, vandana shiva, wangari maathai, rachel carson, and a slew of current writers and thinkers and dare to imagine that i can write and map a direct bridge of their current themes to their precursors in the consciousness raising camp
but this all reminds me of a thought i had while wetting the plants this morning. i went out there because someone wet them before me, yet, the majority of the soil was still just as dry and parched and it hit me? we here in this place trinidad, we have a pride and practice to say, 'i did xy and z' but never ever, in the history of this place, or in current existence, do we ever stop to study the effectiveness of the action taken. so you can say 'i wet the plants' cause you did. but the question becomes, are they still thirsty? is the soil and plant nourished as a result? or is the beds, pots, plants and soils, just as parched as if you had never shown up with water?
it blows my mind
but the idiots will talk about 'successful proof" of the passing with the hose.
finally, there was a proliferation of theory writing four or five decades ago, but there never was a consistent, holistic and adopted tradition of implementation or practice beyond a smattering of examples sparse and limited in its support, resource access or sustainability
there is a lot of work necessary and to study
the point i get to, is the need to reinterpret those ideas and theories of the 1960s for a twentyfirst century world. but i fear, you cant teach old dogs new tricks, nor can you stop and reverse a bullet train. it would make for interesting academic inquiry though
what does conscious development mean in 2015?
what does development for a black diaspora describe in the current space and time?
and could it be that the solutions eschewed for the least of us decades ago are the cause for the overall conditions of life killing in this global world, for everyone? animals and humans of all kinds, stripes and abilities; money and sustainabilities?
