you know
i grew up in life thinking you could control your circumstance
determine your reality, context and experiences
control the incursions of others, the effects, their costs and charges
their infiltrations. etc etc. onto your life.

i have learned bitterly, that life is not so
you cant control who comes to your neighborhood, next door
you cant control their behavior, which is the core of the matter...you are also realizing that you cant control the people you encounter. everyone aint like you,
everyone did not grow up in a home, some not even in a barn or a yard. the coarse. crass and ghetto are everywhere present
you cant even take for granted that your dreams and aims will be met with like mindedness with those you went to school or completed doctoral degrees
some ideas are dreams to big for the brain they maintain
the very people you need to build with to carry your empire, are content to just sweep the roads, what are you talking about owning the building, and these people, irony of all ironies, are the same one who have to bless and benedict you to make the bid for ownership. so rightly the question becomes among the slaves, who is you looking like a black just like me, and a woman to boot, coming here ringing my ears with these white men plans and visions. who is you as he lits a match and the other douses with gasoline..
that gauntlet.
none of that
is in your control
but fuckers who aint did shit, aint never thought of shit, will tell you about moving forward, getting your own
it is so easy and effortless here for people so quickly to tell you what you can not do. talking to a man on a building rental and he wanted to tell me some smack. i had to tell him your only concern is that I pay you your money and keep the peace of the neighborhood. the runt will never find a tenant to say the latter. and that is the the thing, navigating with people who dont even have neither your oar or rudders
is it too early to sip brandy?
